Everything Comes Around: My Husband Filed for Divorce and Returned to His Ex-Wife
I’ve always considered myself a savvy player in the game of love. But life taught me a harsh lesson: you have to pay for everything, and eventually, our actions come back to us.
At twenty-five, I married not out of love but from a desire to stay in the big city, far away from the small town I grew up in, where everyone knew each other’s business, and personal lives were public knowledge. Here in London, I felt free from the constant scrutiny of neighbors and relatives.
An Affair with a Friend’s Boyfriend
It all started when my school friend introduced me to her boyfriend, Andrew. Tall, brown-eyed, with a charming smile—he instantly caught my attention. Perhaps it was the allure of the forbidden that seemed sweet to me, but I made it my goal to win his heart. Andrew couldn’t resist my charm, and soon we started seeing each other secretly behind his girlfriend’s back.
Our meetings were filled with passion and excitement. I didn’t limit myself to just Andrew and continued to flirt with other men, relishing the attention and the sense of power it brought. Andrew was aware of my escapades but, being in a relationship himself, he couldn’t complain.
One day, he saw me getting out of another man’s car. It was a turning point: Andrew declared that he couldn’t share me with someone else anymore and suggested breaking up with his girlfriend to live with me. Flattered by his determination and the prospect of living together, which saved me from paying rent, I agreed.
Boredom and Returning to Old Habits
Our cohabitation quickly turned into a routine. I missed my old thrills and freedom. Meeting my old flame, David, I succumbed to the temptation to revisit past passions. Our meetings became regular, and I once again felt alive.
Gradually, I slipped back into my previous lifestyle, filled with flirting and fleeting encounters. One day, without informing Andrew, I packed my things and left, leaving behind only a note about our breakup.
An Unexpected Twist of Fate
A month later, I discovered I was pregnant. Realizing I wasn’t ready for single motherhood, I went back to Andrew. Learning about the baby, he proposed to me. I accepted, hoping that a shared life for the sake of the child would bring us happiness.
A year after our son, Jack, was born, I became pregnant again. Now we had two children, and my life turned into an endless cycle of chores and household responsibilities. Andrew spent more and more time at work, and I felt trapped, deprived of my former freedom and joys.
The Collapse of the Family
One day, coming home, I found a note from Andrew: “I’ve filed for divorce. It’s over between us.” He left, leaving me with two small children. Later, I learned he had returned to his ex-girlfriend, the same friend I had once taken him from.
Now I’m left alone with the children, with no support or help. Fate showed me that everything comes around, and you have to pay the price for the mistakes of youth.
