For 20 years, I was married to a simple woman and enjoyed my role as a husband and father. But soon, I grew tired of it all: I met a woman who turned my life upside down.

Twenty years ago, I married a simple woman—she wasn’t exceptionally beautiful, but she was cheerful and kind.

We met completely by chance and quickly decided to get married. Soon after, our daughter was born. At first, I felt very happy being a husband and father, but soon, I began to feel exhausted. My peers were having fun, while I was stuck in the routine of work and family life.

Eventually, I decided to join my friends: I started going to bars and clubs with them. At first, it was just fun nights out with the guys, but later, I started looking for female company and going on dates. I wanted to make an even better impression, so I decided to buy a car—I took out a loan and fulfilled my old dream.

After that, women started paying even more attention to me. They would eagerly jump into my car, and we would drive around the city at night with loud music playing. I completely forgot about my wife and child—she trusted me, believing I was just working late.

At that time, we lived with her parents. I thought I was living the dream: a wife, a child, a nice car… Yet I kept thinking that my wife, who didn’t take much care of herself, wasn’t good enough for me.

After some time, I changed jobs and met Emily there. She was stunning: slim, charismatic, and holding a high position. I thought she was the kind of woman I truly deserved, so I started doing everything to win her over.

I wrote her sweet notes, sent flowers and gifts, but she didn’t pay me any attention. To impress her, I even left my wife and stopped seeing my child. My wife was heartbroken, crying and begging to talk…

But I didn’t care—I was only interested in Emily. And finally, I got my chance. One day, she ran into trouble at work, and I managed to help her out. She said she owed me, so I offered to drive her home. She didn’t refuse.

Later, I invited her to an expensive restaurant, but she declined. That’s when I confessed that I loved her, couldn’t live without her, and wanted to marry her.

She looked at me and asked:

– Have you already divorced your wife that you’re so boldly talking about marriage?

I told her I was ready to divorce tomorrow if needed because I didn’t love my wife—I only needed Emily!

Then she started shouting at me:

– I don’t need you, womanizer! I know very well that you have a wife and a daughter! If you can cheat on your wife, you will cheat on me too! Your family is suffering while you run around chasing other women!

She continued:

– My father was just like you—he left me and my mother for other women. You are nothing but a disgusting man!

I was in shock, speechless. Anger boiled inside me, but then I realized how selfish I had been. I abandoned my wife and child, never helped her, never spoiled her with gifts or attention. And now I was the one complaining that she didn’t take care of herself…

So who was truly undeserving of whom?

I went back home as a completely different man. I tried to make things right with my wife. I fell to my knees, begged for her forgiveness, swore that I had never been unfaithful. She cried but forgave me.

Since then, I take care of her—I buy her gifts, take her to beauty salons. And now I realize that she is a beautiful woman—kind, loving, and tender. How could I have treated her this way?..

As for Emily, she acted as if nothing had happened. At work, she smiled as usual, but for the past two years, we have only exchanged greetings and goodbyes. We don’t talk about anything personal anymore.

But I will always be grateful to her because she was the one who opened my eyes and saved my family!

Now, I try not to look at other women and behave like a decent family man.

And you… would you forgive your husband if he had done what I did?
