Kate gave birth to a son at the age of sixteen. The father of the newborn was threatened with punishment for corrupting a minor. Therefore, Kate did not tell anyone his name. She loved him very much. And he just disappeared. Away from sin.
Kate was kicked out of the house by her parents. The schoolgirl mother was taken in by her grandmother. She also looked after her great-grandson when Kate was at school. After school Kate got a job in a shop. And then, without waiting for her beloved, she married Eric, who was five years older than her.
A year later, the couple had their son. But Eric also respected his wife’s eldest son, Steve. He did not make any difference between his son and stepson. And then Steve’s father returned to the city, and Kate began to run to him on dates.
Eric talked to both his wife and her lover. It did not help. Eventually Kate ran away with her lover. And again Eric did not distinguish between his son and stepson. He did not put Steve in an orphanage, but took care of him and brought him up as his own. And did not hide the truth from him.
And now the day has come when Steve, together with his classmates, receives a certificate of maturity. First, the official part was planned – the presentation of certificates, and then the graduation ball. The solemn event was held in the assembly hall. – Steve Snow, where are you?! – called a woman.
– Kate! – someone in the hall gasped.
– Well, I’m Steve, and who are you? – a guy responded.
– I am your mother! And this is your father! We came to congratulate you. We brought a gift, – Kate replied. – What are you standing there for? Go hug your mother and father.
– My mother is long gone from this world. At least for me. My father is standing there (Steve pointed to Eric), and I don’t know you two and don’t want to know…
