Every day during his lunch break Edward saw a girl stopping outside the clothing store and looking at a dress in the window. The girl attracted his attention not by chance, she was very beautiful. He had been watching her for a month.
– Polly, why do you think she goes there every day? – he once asked a colleague.
Polly squinted thoughtfully, looking at the girlish figure.
– I don’t know, she probably wants to buy a dress. Only she can’t afford it.
– How do you know? – Edward was surprised.
– She is dressed simply, and this shop is very expensive. So, did you like her? The colleague’s eyes sparkled mockingly.
– Maybe… Something in him reacted to this girl and was drawn to her.
The next day Polly came in overjoyed.
– And I found out everything! I’ll give you confidential information in exchange for a box of cookies!
Edward was surprised. And Polly flopped down in the next chair.
– How did you know?
– This information is classified. The secret of the company!
Edward looked at her insistently.
– All right, – the girl gave up, – I asked the girls from the store! Well, do you agree to cookies or not?
– Yes, of course. Spit it out!
– She asked about the black dress. You’d recognize her if you walked into the store. Her name is Bella, and she works at the supermarket next door.
Edward stood up hurriedly.
– Where are you going? Polly was surprised.
– I’m going to buy cookies from the next supermarket, – a dazzling smile flashed on the guy’s lips.
He wanted to look at the girl up close. Up close she was just as beautiful, even better. Taking a box of cookies, he went straight for the dress. He did not spare any money to buy it.
Soon he approached her to meet her. The girl was very shy, but agreed to walk with him. When during the walk he gave her the dress, she burst into tears. Edward was confused, he thought he had done something wrong. But Bella said she had been saving her grandmother’s money for the dress for a long time. When they passed by the store, her grandmother was very impressed with the dress. Her grandmother raised her alone, constantly denied herself everything, so she dreamed of making her happy. And he took and gave her this dress! She was happy.
Soon they started dating and got married a year later.
