When Emily was just four years old, she lost her mother in a tragic collision involving their neighbours car. The accident erased almost all of Emilys memories of her mum. Her father spent his life raising her, but the struggle was relentless, wearing him down and making him appear much older than he truly was. Despite all he gave her, Emily rarely visited her father. After she married, she focused wholly on her own life, only seeing him from time to time.
Emily had a demanding job, so she left the responsibility of sending money to her father to her husband, Tom. However, Tom resented spending cash on someone he viewed as undeserving.
