In days gone by, there was a rather charming scene that unfolded in the gardens of an old country inn in Yorkshire. A young deer, still wobbling on its spindly legs, wandered right up to a gathering of friends who were enjoying a picnic under the shade of an ancient oak. Without warning, another fawn suddenly bounded over with youthful vigour, and to everyones astonishment, it started affectionately licking the face of a lady named Sally. She shrieked with laughter, utterly taken by surprise, and her friends couldnt help but join in her delight.
This particular fawn had only been born a fortnight earlier at the county fair held in Surrey. When he was introduced to the crowds for the very first time, nobody expected what would happen next. Rather than shying away from the commotion, the lively foal basked in the attentionears pointing skywards and tail flicking with pridewhile the audience clapped and snapped photographs.
Meanwhile, the young Shire horses at the fair were thrown into a mild frenzy by the new arrival. The foal darted mischievously between them, sending the older horses cantering about in confusion. This Shire foal, christened on the brisk morning of the 14th of April at Willowbrook Stud in the gentle hills of Devon, was the offspring of Percheron and Suffolk Punch lineagea right noble mix.
