Caught in the Act: A Surprise Encounter in the Store

I’ve been married for four years, and all this time, my husband has been the perfect partner—I can’t even recall a single serious argument between us.

Lately, we’ve been thinking about having a child. We’ve been trying, planning, but no luck so far. The issue lies with my hormonal imbalance, but even then, my husband has never blamed me. We agreed that if we can’t conceive naturally, we’ll consider adoption.

I thought we had an almost perfect family—the only thing missing was a bit more passion in our relationship, which kept it from being truly ideal.

I also have a close friend, Emma, who isn’t married yet, so we spend plenty of time together, often going shopping. Emma is stunning—she takes care of herself, hits the gym regularly, and earns well. She knows my husband, too—they go to the same gym, though their schedules rarely overlap.

I’m not the jealous type, and I trusted my husband completely—until one incident. As he was due back from the gym, I popped out to the shop to grab a loaf of bread for dinner. Between the aisles, I was met with an ugly sight—my husband wasn’t just flirting with Emma, he had his arm around her. When they spotted me, the pair jumped apart, but I’d already seen enough. I burst into tears and ran out, with my husband chasing after me.

Outside, he swore there’d been no embrace—just that they were standing close, and I must’ve imagined it. He was so convincing that part of me wanted to believe him—but I couldn’t.

Back home, I packed a bag and left for my parents’ house. I didn’t tell Mum or Dad—they’ve got strong personalities, and Dad would’ve gone straight to confront him. For now, I’m staying with them, trying to figure out what to do next. There’s no solid reason for divorce, but I can’t honestly say I still love my husband. Emma keeps calling, but I don’t want to talk to her—who knows what she’d say? If she starts claiming it was all in my head, it’ll only make things worse. I don’t trust her anymore—she’s probably just trying to save herself.
