Cat Rescues Owner Running Late for Work

A former colleague shared a funny story about her cat with me. She has a large, clever white feline at home, known for its intelligence and resourcefulness.

She can talk endlessly about her beloved pet, and I always enjoy listening, marveling at just how smart our domestic animals can truly be.

Recently, she had an amazing experience that made her respect her cat even more.

One morning, she woke up with a start, realizing she had overslept and was late for work.

For some reason, her alarm hadn’t rung on time, and there were just 20 minutes left before the start of her workday.

She still needed to get dressed, put on makeup, have breakfast, and travel to the office.

Rushing around her flat, she was pulling on a dress with one hand and brushing her hair with the other.

She was fretting and lamenting about how her boss would reprimand her for being late.

Then, she noticed her cat sitting on the bed, watching her intently.

Its head was moving back and forth, observing her morning frenzy.

For a moment, she paused, realizing she also needed to feed the cat. She dashed to the kitchen and quickly filled its bowl with food.

With resignation, she muttered to herself about not having time to pack a lunch, then hurried to the bathroom to apply mascara.

As she glanced in the mirror, she saw her cat running back and forth from the kitchen to the hallway.

Momentarily distracted from her makeup, she watched her pet for a few seconds.

It would run to her bag by the front door, stick its head in, and then race back to the kitchen. This repeated several times.

Finally, she finished getting ready, threw on her coat, grabbed her bag, and rushed outside.

Oddly enough, her boss didn’t scold her that day, perhaps because he was late himself or something else had happened.

Her morning at work went smoothly, maintaining the usual pace.

But, as the lunch break approached, she remembered she hadn’t brought anything to snack on from home.

She needed to pop to the nearest shop for a yogurt and a bun.

Rummaging through her bag for her wallet, checking if she had left it at home in her morning rush, she suddenly stumbled upon something scattered at the bottom.

To her surprise, as she pulled out her keys and lipstick, small clumps of cat food fell onto the table.

At first, my friend didn’t understand how it ended up in her bag, but then she recalled her cat’s peculiar behavior that morning.

Her cat’s dashing between the kitchen and her bag was not random. It was packing her lunch.

The smart creature seemed to realize she didn’t have time to prepare her own snack, so it took care of her in its own way.

After such an event, how could one deny that our pets understand us and will surely come to our aid in times of need?
