Cat Assists Owner in Making It to Work on Time

My former colleague told me a funny story about her clever cat. She has a large, beautiful white cat with an extraordinary level of intelligence.

She can talk about her pet at great length, and I always enjoy listening, amazed yet again at how smart our domestic animals truly are.

The other day, she recounted a remarkable incident with her cat that made her respect him even more.

One morning, she woke up in a panic, realizing she had overslept for work.

For some reason, her alarm clock didn’t go off, and she only had 20 minutes left until her workday began.

She still needed to get dressed, do her makeup, have breakfast, and commute to the office.

She was rushing around her flat, putting on her dress with one hand and brushing her hair with the other.

She was fretting, worrying, and lamenting about how her boss would scold her for being late.

Then, she noticed her cat sitting on the bed, watching her intently.

He was following her frantic movements with his head, observing her morning panic.

For a moment, she paused, realizing she needed to feed her cat as well. She rushed to the kitchen and quickly filled his bowl with food.

“Ah, I won’t have time to pack lunch today,” she said to herself with regret as she ran to the bathroom to put on mascara.

In the mirror, she noticed her cat running back and forth between the kitchen and the hallway.

Distracted from her makeup for a moment, she watched her pet.

He’d run to her handbag by the front door, poke his head into it, and then dash back to the kitchen. This happened several times.

Nothing was making sense about her cat’s behavior, so she finished getting ready, hurriedly threw on her coat, grabbed her bag, and dashed outside.

Oddly enough, her boss didn’t scold her that day; he seemed to have been late himself or something similar.

Her morning passed smoothly, a regular work routine.

But come lunchtime, she remembered she hadn’t grabbed anything from home to snack on.

She needed to pop into the nearest shop for some yogurt and a bun.

She took her bag and rummaged for her wallet, hoping she hadn’t forgotten it in her morning rush. Suddenly, she felt something small scattered at the bottom of her handbag.

Imagine her surprise when she dumped keys, lipstick, and lumps of dry cat food onto her desk.

At first, my friend didn’t understand how the cat food ended up in her bag. But then she recalled her cat’s peculiar morning behavior.

He’d been running from the kitchen to the hallway and back with purpose. He’d packed her a lunch for work.

That perceptive creature must have realized she didn’t have time to prepare a snack, so he took care of her in his way.

And how can we not admit, after such incidents, that our pets understand us and are always ready to help in hard times?
