Caroline’s married life seemed like hell at first. She married Patrick quite early and moved to him. Patrick lived with his mother, by that time his father had left this world. They lived in the village next door to Caroline’s home. Caroline often ran out of the house, tried to return to her parents’ house, but her mother did not even open the door, just shouted through the open window that she should return to her husband, be patient and everything would work out.
When she found out that she was pregnant, her husband was taken to the army and Caroline was left with her tyrant mother-in-law. She was a very bossy woman who was used to everything being as she said. There was no support, the only thing she was told was to be patient.
2 years passed, Caroline gave birth to a son, her husband returned from the army, but nothing changed in her life for the better, but on the contrary. Everything became even worse. Patrick never supported his wife, in any situation he took the side of his mother. She had nowhere to go. Despite the terrible behavior of her mother-in-law, Caroline took care of her when she got old.
Patrick, in turn, treated her as a servant and cheated on her. When she told her mother about everything that happened to her, she heard only one thing in response – “endure”.
Several years passed, the children grew up, the husband grew old and returned to the family. Sometimes he even helped his wife around the house. Children helped their parents in every possible way. Apparently, the mother was right about the need to be patient. Although, the concept of patience is quite a stretch… Caroline found happiness in old age, she deserved it.
