A small girl, standing alone on the street, was spotted by passersby who called the policeshe claimed voices told her to leave, then pointed to a house down the road.

*”Where do you live?”* he asked softly.
The girl slowly raised her hand, pointing to the house at the end of the street.

The sergeant approached and nudged the slightly ajar door.
Inside, he froze in the living room.
A woman lay motionless on the floor. Everything was still, silent.

The girl had heard her mothers screams, stepped toward the room but never entered.
