Im 38 and have spent the past two years living with a man whos five years older than I am. His name is Frank. He was married before, has two children, and his ex-wifewho doesnt workrings up for money or asks him to help with something just about every evening.
I’ve never been married and I don’t have children. Some might say thats why I dont get family life or what children are like. But I do understand. What I really cant get my head around is why someone would live with one woman, supposedly start a new life, but constantly go running off to another.
Franks ex seems desperate for him back. She calls every single day with some new emergency or problem. After work, he immediately heads over to hers, and he never gets back to ours until late at night. We cant even have a simple Christmas together, just the two of ustheres always another pressing issue at her place, another call, another reason he has to leave. I keep asking myself: why does Frank always have to drop everything and rush over there?
Hes got a big family and loads of friends as well, all nearby, but the answer feels all too clear: she wants him back in her life. Frankly, Im completely fed up with it. But what am I supposed to do? End things, walk away? Having a heart-to-heart with him goes nowhereit never changes a thing.
