The back window was smashed, and the car had rolled over onto its roof. I was awake, but I couldnt move my legs.
Later, I found out Id fractured my pelvis in three places from the accident.
Out of nowhere, a car appeared on the lane. Its headlights washed over me as I frantically tried to signal for help. I remember shouting that I was injured, just before everything went dark again. The driver noticed me and pulled up immediately. He jumped out and rushed over to check if I was alright.
By the time he reached me, Id blacked out, but he could see the blood pouring from my head and arms. He rang 999 without hesitation and kept me company until the paramedics arrived. Thanks to his quick thinking, I managed to survive that dreadful ordeal.
Im not sure how long I was unconscious, but when I finally came around, I felt a tremendous sense of presence. It reminded me of a story Id heard onceabout a woman out walking her dog, who suddenly collapsed in the park.
She suffered a heart attack, and lay there unmoving while her dog guarded her faithfully. Hours slipped by before someone stumbled upon the pair and called for an ambulancesadly, it was too late for her.
There was another tale, too: A mans steadfast dog remained beside him through a three-day coma, never leaving his bedside, not even for a moment. The devoted dog was praised as a true hero, showing what it means to be mans best friend in times of need.
