Two days ago I was on the bus, in a hurry to get to work. All the seats were taken. At the next station, an old woman got on the bus. She started looking for an empty seat with her eyes. She noticed a guy sitting in the front, so she approached him and asked him to give up his seat. The fellow looked very tired, apparently returning from a night shift. The woman did not bother him.
At the next station a woman of about 60 looked like she had no bag or heavy packages. Noticing the young man, she immediately jumped on him and began demanding that he give up his seat.
The passenger immediately attracted the attention of all passengers. The young man had no time to open his mouth when the woman started insulting him, shouting at the whole bus: “You sit there, you rude, whether you are a man or not, give up your seat, you ruthless impudent man”. He silently got up to give her his seat, but when he heard her insults, he changed his mind and sat back down.
Some of the passengers looked at the guy. Some looked with sympathy, some with surprise. The woman was furious; she threw a tantrum, started accusing all the men of rudeness. The young guy, without saying a word, put on his headphones and closed his eyes.
When he reached his stop, he left the bus. None of the passengers supported this grumpy woman, no one even tried to calm her down. Everyone looked at her a little scornfully.
I don’t think anyone wanted to get involved with such an irrational person. I myself work two jobs and sometimes I can hardly stand on my feet. I don’t understand people like that: they were born to ruin other people’s lives.
I was on the side of the young guy. It was obvious that he was either not feeling well or was tired. I don’t like confrontational people, and I really wanted to put this woman in her place. But I decided to keep quiet.
