My daughter has always been a generous girl. She shared sweets since childhood, and in adulthood she even helped me financially.
At first, I did not take money from her, because my salary was enough to live on. However, everything changed when I retired.
My pension is small, one half goes to pay for utilities, and the other half – for food.
I eat modestly. The diet is dominated by porridge and vegetable soups. The body will not last so long.
I do not buy the medicines prescribed by the doctor anymore, because I simply have no money. I can’t stay without bread, but with pills.
My daughter got married for the second time last year. She and her husband live in the capital, they have a car and an apartment, though they still pay the loan for it. This summer they went on vacation abroad. My daughter sent me photos.
We keep in touch with her and she always asks how I am doing.
I did not want to upset or disturb her, so for a long time I lied that I was doing well. I would eat fried chicken or drink orange juice. Although in fact I have already forgotten what those products look like.
And my daughter believed in all my stories. She knows what the prices in the stores are now, and my pension is meager…
Recently I could not stand it and asked her for help. I think maybe I will freeze some vegetables for the winter until the season and buy new slippers, because there is no trace of the old ones.
My daughter immediately agreed and the next day she sent me money. I received some money on my card.
But is it really a help? A cup of coffee costs so much in the capital! I would have sent this money back to her, but, unfortunately, I do not know how to use the Internet.
In the evening, she called and asked if the money had arrived. I calmly thanked her, hung up and burst into tears.
It was the first and the last time I asked her for something. If she does not think to help her mother, then I will continue to talk about the fact that I eat meat every day.
Maybe she really does not know what our prices are and thinks that everything is given away for free here. So let her come and look in the refrigerator to her mother
What do you think about this? Should children help their retired parents?
