After My Mother Passed Away, My Brother and Aunt Didn’t Waste Any Time Before Asking Me to Leave Home—At First, I Understood, But Everything Changed When My Brother’s Wife Made Hurtful Remarks, So I Decided It Was Time to Stand Up for Myself and Teach Them a Lesson

As I gazed out the window, I spotted a mother strolling along and chatting fondly with her daughter. It brought back memories of my own childhood, when my mum would walk me to nursery and wed share little moments together in the park, enjoying an ice cream. A wave of loss washed over me, and I felt a tear run down my face as I grieved for her absence. My brother broke into my thoughts by asking when I planned to return to London.

With no concrete plans, I mentioned that I might need to see a solicitor. My brother immediately accused me of wanting to claim our mothers flat for myself, and to my shock, our aunt sided with him. Matters escalated during the wake, when my brother raised his voice at me, leaving me unsettled and deeply hurt. Once everyone had gone, my aunt approached me with fury burning in her eyes, declaring theyd sell the flat and buy two separate ones for my brother and her own daughter. She told me quite bluntly to get myself back to London and enjoy a comfortable life there.

Confused and wounded by their behaviour, I found myself back at Mums flat, hoping to keep a few of her belongings as mementos. To my horror, my brother and his wife had changed the locks and refused to let me in. My brothers wife even shoved me out the door without the least bit of sympathy. At that moment, I resolved to do whatever I could to reclaim my rightful share and have them evicted from the property.

Before all this, despite their unpleasantness, Id continued to support them financiallysending pounds for medicine and even hiring a carer, though they lived with our mum there. In the end, I learnt about my mothers passing through friends on social media, since my brother had never even told meprobably to keep getting my help.

I confronted my brother, warning him that I intended to go to court and claim the entire flat, which clearly rattled him even though he tried to hide it. I was absolutely determined to press charges and let the court decide who truly deserved the property.
