After 16 years together: my wife took our house savings and ran away!
Hello to everyone reading my story.
My name is Alex, and today I want to share with you how in just one day, the world I had been building for 16 long years crumbled.
I am the father of two children – my older son, Max, who is now 14, and my younger daughter, Sophie, who is just 9. I am raising them on my own. And you know, despite all the pain and betrayal, I have no regrets – they have become the only light their mother left me with after she shattered our life.
Women often say that men betray, abandon, deceive… Yes, it does happen. But I never thought I would find myself on the opposite side of this story.
16 years of believing in a lie
I met Olivia when I was young and full of hope. We fell in love, made plans, dreamed of a home, children, and a peaceful and happy life. I worked tirelessly to provide for the family, to give our children the best.
We bought a house – not immediately, of course. For many years, I invested every penny into it, worked overtime, and took jobs abroad. I believed everything was fine with us. Olivia, as I thought, was managing the household and taking care of the kids.
But behind this illusion was a harsh truth.
Betrayal I never suspected
One day, I left for another business trip abroad. Everything was as usual: a good luck kiss before leaving, promises that the kids were waiting for me at home.
A few weeks later, I got a frantic call from my son’s headteacher. She said that the children had been taken from school by social services and that their mother had filed a statement claiming I was unfit to care for them.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I raced home, feeling desperate. By the time I crossed the border back into England, I was overcome with anxiety and fear – what had she done? What about my children?
When I made it to the city, the school was already closed, and the children were in a shelter. I wasn’t even able to see them.
Fighting for my children
A terrible struggle began. I had to prove that I was a capable, responsible father. Hundreds of documents, assessments, court hearings… I hired lawyers and went through numerous interrogations.
After a few weeks, I finally got back custody of my children. I remember the moment they ran to me, tearful and scared. They didn’t understand why their mother had left them, why they were taken to a strange place.
But that was not the end of the nightmare.
Where’s our money?
I came back home, but it was… gone. The bank had repossessed the house due to missed payments.
How could this happen? We had been saving money, I was sending transfers, we had agreements!
It turned out that Olivia hadn’t been paying the mortgage for years, despite reassuring me otherwise. Moreover, she emptied all our savings and disappeared.
I searched for her, but it was futile. She vanished from our lives as if she had never existed.
We made it through!
We ended up on the street. But I didn’t give up. I rented a flat, worked day and night again. It was tough on the kids, but we got through it.
It’s been three years now. We’re happy, despite everything.
You know, the scariest part isn’t losing money or property. The scariest part is realizing that for 16 years you slept next to a stranger who could destroy your life at any moment.
So, my friends, cherish those who truly love you. And remember, sometimes even after 16 years together, you may not know who you’re living with…
