But weve already done the DNA test, that should be enough! Rebecca pleaded.
Well, you couldve faked the test, how do I know? Philip argued.
How on earth could I afford to fake a DNA test? Rebecca replied.
Your ex gave you the money, just so you could pin his kid on me.
Philips accusation cut Rebecca deeply. She tried to explain that all babies look alike when theyre just born, but he wouldnt hear any of it. He told her to leave and not come back that night, slamming the door behind her.
Sitting on the floor with her baby crying in her arms, Rebecca felt completely overwhelmed. She did her best to soothe him, but it took ages before he finally drifted off to sleep. Feeling helpless and utterly alone, Rebecca rang her gran, who suggested she ask Mark, her friends son, to help her with the move.
Mark turned up and lent her a hand packing her things, dismantling the cot, and getting everything ready. Rebecca offered him a cup of tea, but he politely said hed rather have one back at her grans flat. Over the next few days, Mark kept helping out, driving Rebecca and her son around on errands, and keeping her company through the rough patches.
As they spent more time together, Rebecca realised shed started to care deeply for Mark. Before long, they grew close and eventually got married. Later, Rebecca had a little girl, and her son grew up looking just like his biological dad.
When Philip finally saw his son again, he couldnt help but feel the sting of regret for walking out and tearing their family apart. It was a painful realisation, and he genuinely wished hed made different choices back then.
