I never dreamed something like this could ever happen to me. I couldn’t even comprehend who Id been living with all those years.
I met Richard when I was fifteen; he was seventeen back then. Five years later, we married, and within a year, I was pregnant. Richard was over the moon when our daughter was born. He doted on her and threw himself into work even more.
My husband bought a spacious two-bedroom flat, and our daughter was his little princess. He drove her to nursery and took her to every activity. They often went on strolls together, just watching cartoons and laughing. Our family felt perfectuntil everything was turned upside down.
When I was expecting our second child, there was a knock at the door. A young woman stood on our doorstep, cradling a baby. I stepped back, then invited her inside. She looked about twenty years old. Her name was Emily; she was nineteen. Emily was my husbands second woman.
Just two weeks before, shed given birth to a boy and now wanted to set things straight once and for all. She told me they’d been together for two years, but Emily wasn’t planning to let go so easily. I rang Richard and told him to come home. His reply stunned me:
Girls, we used to have such a lovely life together. Lets leave things as they are. I wont change anything. I dont want to break up, but I wont leave Emily either.
I refused to tolerate this. Tears streaming down my face, I packed his bags. When I ushered him to the door, he followed me and spat out:
My dear, youll regret this. The flats in my name, so you and the children will have to move back to your old flat on the outskirts of London. Dont expect child support, eithermy official salarys the bare minimum. Now youll have to figure out how to survive.
I couldn’t believe those words were coming from the man I’d loved all these years.
That was the moment I knew I didnt want my children growing up near him. Richard left with Emily, and I gathered everything for myself and the kids, heading to my own flat.
I didnt have time for tears. Richard filed for divorce quickly, and I spent my last pounds hiring a decent solicitor. Thankfully, the specialist did her job well, and the flat stayed with me and the children. I never even applied for child support.
Seven years passed, and I married again. My new husbands nothing like Richardhes a truly wonderful man. Interestingly, Emily just wanted money from my ex, and when he lost the flat, she threw him out. Richard tried to come back to me, but you cant sit on two chairs after saying such things.
Would you ever take Richard back?
