Mark has just returned home and is startled by a troubling scenehis wife is nowhere to be seen. Her absence, along with that of their one-year-old son, fills him with both surprise and worry. Determined to figure out whats going on, Mark walks over to a neighbours house to ask if they know where his wife has gone, and to his astonishment, that very neighbour steps outside cradling Marks son.
It turns out Marks wife had left their child with the neighbour while she left to attend to something urgent. Although Mark was familiar with looking after children, he couldnt help but wonder what could have made his wife leave so suddenly. Still, he was grateful to find that she had thoughtfully left him a meal in the microwave.
As the minutes slipped byhalf an hour, an hour, two hours, then fiveMarks anxiety mounted. He tried calling his wife repeatedly, but she ignored all his attempts to reach her. With each passing hour, his worry grew more intense. Eventually, he managed to settle his son for the night, still hoping for a reply from his wife.
Finally, the call he had been desperate for came through. Mark hurried to answer, flooding his wife with questions about where she was and what had kept her away. But to his dismay, she avoided giving any answers. Instead, she told him she had no intention of returning home and had decided to leave their son in Marks care for good.
Stunned and devastated, Mark could hardly believe what he was hearing. He clung to the phone, hoping this was some cruel joke, but the grim reality refused to let him rest. Now, he faces the daunting task of raising his son alone, stepping into the roles of both mum and dad, determined to give the child the best life he can.
