Earlier this year, I visited one of my old secondary school classes. During the lesson, a girl politely asked if she could go to the loo, but the teacher flatly refused her. She asked again, just as politely, and was turned down once more.
A few minutes passed, and she insisted that it was quite urgent, yet the teacher still wouldnt budge. He was clearly irritated, so when the girl asked a third time, after another five minutes had gone by, saying she really needed to leave as it was an emergency, the teacher replied in a cold, threatening tone, No. Thats when she stood up everyone watched her, and she blushed deeply, but she told the teacher, right there in front of the class, that she had started her period and really needed to go to the bathroom.
The whole class stared at her, completely stunned. After a brief silence, the teacher told her to sit down and still refused to let her go. Everyone felt awkward and embarrassed. Then, a lad looked every bit the football player stood up and said, Do you have a wife? Didnt you grow up with a mum or a sister? Shes on her period and needs to use the bathroom shes going, whether you let her or not.
He then walked over, gently took her by the hand, and escorted her out to the toilets. When they came back, the teacher scolded both of them for misbehaving and especially reprimanded the boy. Ill never forget that day.
That footballer turned out to have far more sense than the teacher did.
