When people are friendslike a long-married coupleits only a matter of time before disagreements crop up. The more people you have, the more little squabbles and complaints inevitably arise.
I remember one time, a friend of mine told me how they celebrated New Year with their mates. Normally, three families would get together each year, taking turns at hosting in their homes, but last year, one family decided to spend it with their parents instead.
So, the other two families agreed to split the evening between their houses. As usual, everyone chipped in for the food, drinks, and whatever else they needed.
They all gathered with their children and sat round the table until midnight. But then, they saw the hosts begin tidying upputting food away in the fridge and washing up the dishes. At first, the others werent sure what was happening, but when their friends fetched the hoover and started vacuuming, it was pretty obvious: time was up, they were being politely nudged towards the door. Not exactly the done thing, is it?
Funny thing is, later on when they went to the other familys house, nobody seemed in any hurry to go home. They stayed until morning, eating, drinking, and enjoying themselves.
I suppose the hoover worked for my colleague that night, but honestly, hes just too well-mannered to say anything directly.
