Couldn’t You Have Paid for All the Shopping, Not Just Yours?: He Got Upset on the First Date

I met a guy at a friends birthday party. As it turned out, he was a mate of her boyfriend. Apparently, we liked each other and he asked me out.

When we met up, he told me we needed to pop into the supermarket to pick up some bits, as wed be going to a friends flat together afterwards. Since it was freezing outside and he didnt mention anything elseno talk of a pub or the cinemaI agreed.

He suggested grabbing a pizza and a few other things. So, we grabbed a trolley and off we went. Then he started tossing in a pricey bottle of whisky, a pack of fancy sausages, some nice cheese, a pineapple…

I was a bit taken aback. I just added some satsumas and a packet of biscuitsI didnt have much cash on me. I thought it was just a date, not a massive shop.

So, I figured he must be pretty generous.

We queued up at the till, behind a handful of people. Then, suddenly, he steps away from the trolley and says, Back in a second. I really had no idea what was happening. When it was our turn, I just took my satsumas and biscuits from the trolley and left everything else.

I headed for the exit and spotted him waiting by the doors. He grabbed my bag but straight away could tell something was upit felt too light. He peered inside, puzzled, and asked, Wheres the rest of it?

I gestured towards the shop. He started shouting after me, calling me stingy, saying I couldve paid for the whole lot, that Id wasted his time…
