My Friends Are Buying Apartments and Spending Money on Renovations, While My Girlfriend Has Spent All Her Savings Trying to Boost Our Finances

Everyone else seems to have a lovely wife, and somehow I ended up marrying a fool.

She went around telling everyone with such pride that once we were married, wed have no trouble buying a flatguests would give us plenty of money, and her family would step in to help. But in reality, her parents scoffed at the whole idea, saying that since shed decided to tie the knot at just twenty with a worthless estate agent and no prospects, wed simply have to sort ourselves out. They actually laughed at us. In the end, I had no choice but to bring my wife home to my parents house.

My brother already lives there with his pregnant girlfriend, so its cramped to say the least. My parents hintedquite clearly, in factthat it would be best if we found somewhere else to live, even a rented flat. But I wanted to save so we could put down a deposit and eventually buy our own house. My wife knew my plan. She always said she was desperate to move, and what did she end up doing? She spent all our savings on shares.

Why? She said it was to make our money grow.

My mum nearly fainted when I told her. My heart broke as well, because the share prices are dropping, it takes time to sell them, and now were stuck. Either we cut our losses and sell now, or we risk keeping them and just hope something changes. All our friends are starting families and buying flats, and here we are with shares to our name, nothing else.

Now shes crying, saying she was tricked. Turns out, she even paid people to teach her the ins and outs of investing. And I cant help wondering if I should just file for divorce. Im not sure my love is enough if I cant let go of this, if all I can think about is the money we worked for, the years of savingall of it, turning to dust.

If Im honest, our marriage was rocky from day one. But now its painfully clear that Ive just been drifting from one disaster to the next since marrying a hopelessly naïve girl.
