Mate, I’ve got to tell you about something that happened on a flight I was on. So, this really stunning young woman, looking totally confident, steps onto the plane. Shes got these enormous sunglasses covering half her face and is carrying a fancy designer handbag slung over her shoulder. When she gets to her seat, she realises she’ll be sitting next to an older gentleman who looks, well, very modest his shirt was clean but definitely a bit worn, and his shoes looked like they’d seen more than a few miles.
The moment she sits down, she waves the flight attendant over, her tone frosty and rather blunt, Excuse me, could I be moved to another seat? I really cant sit next to someone like this Just look at how hes dressed, those shoes are practically antiques. I deserve someone a bit more refined next to me.
The stewardess, clearly caught off guard, keeps her cool and replies, Im very sorry, madam, but all the seats in economy are full.
The young woman sighs dramatically and turns towards the window, visibly annoyed.
The older man simply lowers his gaze and says absolutely nothing. Not a word.
The stewardess, feeling pretty awkward about the whole thing, heads up to the cockpit to let the captain know whats happened. He listens patiently and gives her a warm smile, Leave it with me. Ill sort it out.
A few minutes later, the stewardess returns, looking genuinely cheerful. She says, Madam, the captain has agreed to move your seat. We apologise that youve been made to sit beside such an unpleasant companion.
The young woman lifts her chin, clearly pleased, grabs her bag, and gets up, already picturing herself relaxing in first class more leg room, maybe a glass of wine.
But then the stewardess turns to the older gentleman and, with real respect in her voice, says, Sir, would you kindly come with me? The captain would like to offer you a seat in first class.
For a moment, everyone on the plane goes absolutely silent. Then, almost like everyones been waiting for this moment, the entire cabin erupts in applause. It was honestly brilliant, and I couldnt help but grin.
