“This isnt my child, he looks exactly like your mate, but definitely not mine! shouted Philip.
But weve already done the DNA test, surely thats good enough? Rebecca pleaded with him.
Maybe you faked the testhow am I supposed to know?, Philip snapped back.
How on earth would I get the money to fake a DNA test? Rebecca replied.
Your ex-boyfriend gave you the money so you could pin his kid on me, Philip accused her.
That harsh accusation really hit Rebecca hard. She tried to explain that, honestly, all babies look pretty much the same at first, but Philip simply wasnt having it. He told her to leave and not to come back that night, slamming the door behind her.
Sitting on the floor with her little boy crying in her arms, Rebecca felt totally overwhelmed. She did all she could to settle him, but it took ages for him to finally drift off. Feeling helpless and alone, Rebecca reached out to her grandmother, who suggested she ask Mark, the son of one of her friends, to help her move.
Mark came round and helped Rebecca pack up her things, dismantle the cot, and get ready to leave. Rebecca offered him a cup of tea, but he politely said hed rather have it at her grans flat. Over the next few days, Mark kept being there for Rebecca, taking her and her son out for errands and giving her support when she needed it most.
As they spent more time together, Rebecca realised her feelings for Mark had grown really deep. They grew closer, and before long, got married. Later, Rebecca gave birth to a baby girl, and her son grew up to look exactly like his biological father.
When Philip finally saw his son again, he couldnt help but feel a pang of regret for walking away and breaking up his family. It was a painful moment of realisation, and he deeply wished hed made different choices in the past.
