Mark had a mischievous idea to play a prank on his best friend, but little did he know how that day would unexpectedly change both of their lives forever.

When I was young, our group of friends was full of energy, passions, and a fair bit of drama. Among us were a couple, Thomas and Emily. Thomas was the joker of the group, always ready with a witty remark, and Emily matched him beat for beat with her lively spirit. Of course, there were plenty of arguments between them, most of them over the smallest things.

One evening, we all gathered for a party at my flat in Manchester, and Thomas was waiting for Emily at the bus stop down the road. As usual, Emily was running late, and Thomas waited patiently, making jokes about her sense of time. He spotted a girl in the crowd with wild curly hair, just like Emilys, sporting a similar coat. Thinking hed make her laugh, Thomas crept up behind her and gave her a playful poke at the waist, teasing as he always did.

To his shock, the girl spun round, startled and clearly not Emily. She let out a sharp cry, drawing everyones attention. Realising his blunder, Thomas immediately apologised, but things escalated quickly. The girl, whose name turned out to be Abigail, called the police. After a lengthy exchange at the police station, everything got smoothed over. By sheer chance, Thomas and Abigail ended up stuck together for about forty-five minutes, during which they started chatting and discovered they had quite a bit in common.

Amazingly, four months later, Thomas and Abigail were married. They now have two sons, both already taller than their dad. As for Emily, she spent some time trying to win Thomas back and was less than friendly towards Abigail, but eventually moved on. These days, Emilys life has worked out well too.

Thomas often remembers that fateful day and cant help but feel that fate played its part in bringing him and Abigail together. Life truly does have a way of twisting and turning when you least expect it. Sometimes, I think those little mishaps are just pointing us where were meant to be. So heres to fate, and to lifes curious detours may we always find where were meant to go, even if it takes a wrong turn to get there.
