So, the other day, I was on holiday with a mate by the seaside. We were lounging in this breezy summer café near the beach, and just out front was a little ice cream stall. We sat there, enjoying a fresh sandwich and watching people queue up for ice cream. My mate, Frank, got curious and wanted to see what was going on, so we wandered over. Turns out, there was a girl collapsed on the ground, totally unconscious. There was a woman nearby, absolutely distraught, crying and trying to revive her.
Frank didn’t hesitatehe grabbed a bottle of water, splashed some over her, checked her pulse, and realised she needed CPR. He barked at me to ring 999 for an ambulance, so I did, though I was kind of in shock myself.
A few minutes later, the paramedics arrived, loaded the girl into the ambulance, and before they drove off, thanked Frank for his quick thinking. He’d genuinely saved her life. I was honestly stunnednot just by Franks heroism, but by how everyone else just stood around watching, snapping photos or simply staring at the poor girl. To be fair, I probably wouldnt have reacted either if Frank hadnt stepped inbut the main thing is, she survived.
The next morning, we were back at the same café, tucking into breakfast, when out of nowhere, three stunning, expensive cars pulled up outside. Frank looked at them and said, What gorgeous cars. Wouldnt mind owning one myself. Six blokes got out, each looking very well put-together, and headed toward our table. One of them asked, Which one of you saved the girl yesterday? I pointed straight at Frank, and although the guys seemed pretty intimidating, they were clearly there for a friendly chat.
They thanked Frank and handed him the keys to one of their cars. It turns out these men were the girl’s brothers, and they wanted to show their gratitude for what Frank had donesaving their only sister. Frank was absolutely blown away; hed been saving up for a car for three years but never managed to afford one. It was wildhe didnt know what to say.
