“Anna is Still Young, She’ll Have More Children!” – She Promised. But in the End, No One Wanted the …

Sophies still young, shell have more children! thats what she insisted. In the end, no one seemed to really want the child.

Sophie and Thomas grew up together in a small English town, you know, the kind where everyone knows everyone. Theyd gone to the same school, sat in the same classrooms. After finishing school, off they went to university, and then moved to London, hoping to find better jobs and a new start. They rented a modest little flat and both got jobs, just living together without getting married. But when Sophie found out she was pregnant, Thomas left her. A baby just never factored into his plans.

Sophie was heartbroken and decided to pack up and go back home to raise her child. To make things worse, Thomas mum was something of a big name in their town and started telling everyone that Sophies baby must be someone elses, insisting the child had nothing to do with their family. This became even more awkward since both families lived on the same street. It was all a bit of a mess, really.

A lot of their friends knew exactly what had happened. Sophie had her little girl a gorgeous baby. She never said a word against Thomas family, just quietly wanting to look after her daughter in peace. But Thomas mum carried on telling anyone whod listen that the child couldnt possibly be her granddaughter.

Just look at them! shed say, shaking her head. That babys got fair hair and were all dark-haired! That nose doesn’t look like ours. Were a good-looking bunch and, well, the poor things not. Shes just trying to worm her way into our family. Its not right! Bad people!

Sophie had enough eventually. She straight up suggested they do a paternity test to put Thomas mums mind at rest. What else could she do? The result was clear as day: Thomas was definitely the father. Suddenly, Thomas mum was all smiles, inviting Sophie over so she could meet her granddaughter. She showered the baby with expensive presents, lovely clothes, you name it. For someone living off her mothers small pension, Sophie was pretty chuffed to get the help.

Fast-forward a bit and this new-found granny started asking if the little girl could come and stay with her for a while. But Sophie said no; the child was only a year old, far too little to be away from her mum for days on end. That didnt go down well. The granny threatened to take her to court to get visitation rights. She even argued that the girl would be much better off living with her, seeing as she had the means, the space, and the money for a proper upbringing. She pointed out that her son had a flat and could support a child, waved around certificates, while Sophie was a jobless single mum. Besides, she told Sophie she was young and would have more children anyway, maybe it was best to give up her daughter. She even hinted that the judges in town knew her well, and the outcome would probably go her way. But Sophie stood her ground her daughter was her world, and she fought for her. The court dispute dragged on for years.

Ironically, the child that was once shunned by her family suddenly became the apple of their eye. Relatives brought in witnesses, stalked Sophie, took photos, and made complaints. Sophie had to leave town and hide for a while the whole thing got a bit out of hand. But eventually, things died down. Thomas remarried and soon had a son, and his mum switched her attention to the new baby. Sophies daughter started Year One at school. Sophie herself moved back to London for work. Still, she travelled home to see her mum and little girl as often as she could. Thats when she met someone new. Her mum encouraged her to settle down and promised to look after her granddaughter for a while, until things were more secure. The plan was always to bring her daughter to London one day when everything was more settled.

Sophie got married, rented a new flat, and was expecting a baby. On the surface, everything looked great. But Sophie wasnt rushing to bring her daughter to live with her. There wasnt really enough space, and her husband wasnt too fussed about raising someone elses child. Sophie decided that, for now, her daughter would be better off with her grandmother, surrounded by her friends and her school. When the new baby arrived, thered be no one home to look after her little girl anyway, and this way, her mum wouldnt be lonely, and her daughter would be cared for. But then Sophies mums health started to go downhill ambulances, hospital stays, all sorts. Sometimes, neighbours had to pitch in and look after the little girl. Meanwhile, Thomas mum, who once fought so fiercely for her granddaughter, was no longer interested in her at all. When she ran into Sophies mum on the street, she would just give a smug smile and say,

You shouldve listened to me. If youd given me the girl straightaway, Id have made sure she had the best. Shed have been at the best schools by now, speaking French, playing the piano. Now, look her own mothers left her behind. What future does she have now? Im giving everything to my grandson now the best education, the best opportunities!

Thomas never bothered with his daughter, not once. So, after all those court cases, the fights, the drama in the end, no one really wanted the little girl Sophie had loved so fiercely. And now, no one knows how things will turn out for her.
