My own daughter, Emily, only started acting poorly towards her stepmother after she got married. The reason for this was that her mother-in-law hadnt contributed financially to the wedding. The only comfort was that they wouldnt have to live together, since Emilys parents had generously given the young couple a spacious three-bedroom flat in Manchester. By contrast, Marks mother had only provided them with the most basic and ordinary set of crockery. On top of that, she didnt even attend the dinnerware painting session, saying she was unwell. Secretly, Emily was relieved by her absence.
Their married life continued peacefully enough until Anna became ill and could no longer live on her own out in the countryside. Although Emily wasnt keen on having her mother-in-law move in, there really was no alternative. Anna tried to help out with the housework, but this only grated further on Emilys nerves. She disapproved of everything her mother-in-law did and it was evident that Anna didnt feel comfortable there. Eventually, once she felt a little better, Anna decided to return to her own home. Emily hoped things would go back to normal, but tragedy struck. Mark fell seriously ill, and sadly, nothing could save him.
Emily went through a terrible time during those months, and not long after, she discovered she was pregnant. Through all of this hardship, she received significant support from her late husbands mother. The loss of her only son was nearly unbearable for Anna, yet she stayed by Emilys side and helped her however she could. She comforted her and reminded Emily that life must go on and that she shouldnt lose hope. Emily felt anxious and uncertain at the thought of raising a child on her own, but thanks to her mother-in-laws support, things didnt seem quite so bleak and hopeless. Gradually, with time, life started to look up, and a year later, a beautiful daughter was born.
Another year passed, and Emily met a wonderful man. Still, she never forgot her mother-in-law, often taking her daughter to visit Anna, making sure she remained an important part of their lives.
