A regular bloke would never go for a frail woman, you know why?
For more than fifty years now, weve been bombarded with narrow standards of beauty, drummed into us an obsession with being thin, and lately, its as if being skinny is compulsory for women, like a rule set in stone. Whether you fancy it or not, youre expected to mould yourself to fit into what society wants, as if youre a show poodle rather than a person. Otherwise, at work youll get overlooked or you wont have a proper chap by your side.
Women track their weight as if theyd bought it in a precious jewellers, panicking over every extra ounce. Lovely, ordinary women with natural curves are nowhere to be seen on magazine covers anymore. But Im not on board with that, and neither are my mates.
People arent all the same, are they? There are big noses and little noses, flat faces and ones full of character, blonde hair and brown, and its all brilliant. But choosing a woman because shes dropped six stone is, if you ask me, a bit unhealthy in the mind. No decent fellow would be drawn to a woman just because shes wasted away like that.
Of course, were not chasing after lasses who are bedbound from being hugely overweight, or whose cheeks rest on their collarbones. But for me, a bit of fullness is actually a bonus. The rounder ones are cracking cooks.
They always have something tasty stashed in the fridge, youll never go hungry or feel like youve faded away. They know how to enjoy good food and love sharing it with their close ones.
If a womans a bit plump, you know she wont shove you on a salad-only diet or act like a sour old dragon dreaming of some gingerbread man. She wont serve you up a sad plate of plain boiled barley for tea, thank you very much, I had plenty of that in the army.
You can always grab a slice of pizza and settle in for a film together at night if you cant sleep. And eat some ice cream, too. Most importantlyshe doesnt think of herself as some goddess that youve got to chase the world for, she values the fact youre simply there with her. The super-thin types, with all their baggage, just put on too much of an act. Thats why I chose a woman with a bit more to her, and Im well pleased.
