All my friends are out buying flats and spending their money on renovations, while my girlfriend has blown through all her savings trying to boost our finances.
Everyone seems to have a lovely wife, and Ive ended up with a fool.
Shed boasted to everyone, saying that after the wedding wed have no trouble buying a flat because the wedding gifts would be cash and her family would help us out. In reality, her parents said that, since shed decided to marry a dodgy estate agent at twenty and skipped university, wed have to sort ourselves out with a place. They actually laughed at our predicament, leaving me to take my wife back to my parents house. Family shenanigans, really.
My brother already lives there with his pregnant girlfriend, and the place is packed. My mum and dad make little hints that it would be nice if we found somewhere elseeven if its just a rented flatbut I want to save up for a deposit and eventually buy a house. My wife knew about this plan and said she was desperate to move out. And so, what does she do? She spent our savings on shares.
For what reason? To try and multiply our money.
My mother nearly fainted when I told her. My heart sinks, too, because the shares are falling and itll take time to sell them off. Were either going to lose money, or well have to sit tight, cross our fingers, and hope the market turns round one day. So there you goeveryone else is building families in their own flats, and were sat here staring at share certificates!
My wife is in tears, regretting that she got conned. She even paid these so-called experts to teach her where to invest, and now all Im thinking about is divorce. I dont love her enough to stick it out, not when all I can think about is the money I spent years earning and saving, only for it to end up in tatters.
If Im honest, this marriage was off to a rocky start from the beginning, and this whole mess is just proving my pointall this bad luck just because I married a silly girl.
