My second husband turned out to be a truly wonderful man, one who never hesitates to spend on me or my son when were out shopping.
There was a time when it was taken for granted that you got married once and stuck together for life. People today realise it makes little sense to waste your days on a man who pays you no mind, showing not the slightest care or concern. Why force yourself to hold on and fight for a marriage that clearly brings neither of you any happiness? Of course, separating isnt always easy, and sometimes its the children who end up caught in the crossfire.
My first husband left me for another woman, leaving me alone with a one-year-old son. He told me he no longer cared about me. Wed been married for six years. For the most part, wed got on, with the odd quarrel here and there. But after our son was born, my husband changed: hed become irritable over the smallest things, using any excuse to leave the house in the evening. I suspected there was someone else, but I tried not to believe it. One day, he packed his things and left. Just like that, I was left to fend for myself.
About six months ago, I met my second husband. Philip turned out to be a kind and considerate man. He could see how hard it was for me to make ends meet and bring up my child alone. After our second date, as he walked me home, he gently suggested we stop by a shop for a few things. Then he went on to buy all sorts for my son himself.
I felt awkward at first. Still, I was gratefulhe was genuinely trying to help. Later, I asked Philip if hed mind picking up some meat for us. I could only afford it on the odd occasion. Almost all my earnings went to pay off the mortgage on the flat Id bought with my first husband, plus food. Back then, it hadnt seemed so terrifying to buy a place on credit, figuring wed pay it off together. But it hadnt worked out at all as Id hoped.
So when Philip told me to get whatever we needed in the shop, I was so overwhelmed, I nearly cried. It was the first time anyone had come to my aid like that! Even then I only took the basicsnot a sweet or bit of fruit among them. Philip, on the other hand, added a bag of toffees and some oranges. He later arrived at our door with two giant shopping bags.
We went out for several months, and it only became clearer that Philip was a genuinely good person. He cared deeply for the woman he loved, never sparing himself or his wallet when it came to our needs. He won me over completely. Not long after, we got married. Philip turned out to be an amazing husband and a brilliant father.
Ive learned that endless promises and shallow flirtations arent worth a penny. What truly matters is real care and attention from the man of the household. When someone looks after you, you finally start to feel safeand you answer with love. I am very happy with Philip. I feel Ive found someone I can genuinely trust and live my life beside in peace. That, to me, is true happiness.
Emily was unbelievably fortunate to find Philip. Not every woman is after diamonds or luxury flats to be happy. Most women just want to be treated decently, to be cared for and respected.
May you be loved, and may you choose your other half wisely.
