Ever Since I Was a Little Girl, My Parents Told Me I Was Useless and Nobody Needed Me—But I Proved Them Wrong by Moving to London, Starting My Own Business, and Building the Family I Always Dreamed Of

Since I was a young boy, my parents used to tell me that nobody needed me and that I would never amount to anything.

They say family is supposed to be closest to you, especially mothers. After all, its the mum who carries you for nine months, brings you into the world, spends countless sleepless nights, and sacrifices everything for the sake of her child.

That may be true for some, but it was never the case in my family. My mother and I were always worlds apart. We never spoke the same language, metaphorically speaking. She never supported me in anything I wanted to do. The moment Id show enthusiasm about something, shed douse it immediately with her negativity.

In my mums eyes, I was a dim-witted, useless child who couldnt do anything right and never would. I never understood why she treated me that way. Yet, whenever she needed somethingshed ask for my help straight away. Yes, the same son she constantly claimed wasnt good for anything. Thankfully, at least my father loved and encouraged me.

So I made the decision to leave my hometown for London to search for a better life and personal happiness. As soon as my mother found outshe threw an almighty fit. She said all sorts to try and make me stay, but really, she just wanted to keep her handy, reliable help at home. But I didnt give in to her emotional blackmail, and I did things my own way, just as I wanted.

And now, look at me. I live in London, have my own spacious flat, run my own company, and have two wonderful children and an amazing wife. So many times, my mum told me I wouldnt be able to do anything. But I could, and I did. Ive learnt that anyone who can block out the naysayers and truly believe in themselves can achieve anything. Thats the lesson I carry with me every day.
