Thats exactly what I did when I found two cruise vouchers tucked in my husbands trouser pocket. One had the name of the other woman written on it.
I first met my husband, David, at a bus stop. It just so happened Id lost my keys pulling my wallet from my bag. The street was dark, and I fumbled about, unable to find them. David knelt to help me, and together we managed to find the keys in a puddle by the curb. I thanked him, and as it turned out, we were waiting for the same bus.
David ended up walking me home that evening. Soon, we started seeing each other, and after six months, we married. David always said he fell for me the instant we met. Life together was goodblissful, even. Those three years went by in what felt like the blink of an eye. But then David landed a new job, and before long, I noticed a change in him. I kept quiet, brushing off my worries as paranoia. Then, out of the blue, David announced he had to leave for a two-week business trip.
That night, while he showered, I decided to gather up some clothes to wash. In his jeans pocket, thats where I found the two tickets for a coastal cruise. One bore the name of some woman Id never heard of. My heart broke; hed betrayed us bothtrampled over my trust and love.
Anger washed over me, but above all, I felt foolishId trusted this man completely. Without a word to David, I rang my old school friend, James, who had always stood by me, and asked for a favour. Together, James and I went to the very place where David had planned his tryst with his lover. We played our parts, pretending we were besotted, arms intertwined. When David spotted us, he marched over in a rage, falsely accusing me of cheating on him.
I shot back, eyes blazing, Oh, so you thought you could betray me, but I would just sit home waiting? I found someone else before you even left!
Nearby stood Caroline, Davids mistress, reeling from the shock. She had no idea David was marriedhed deceived us both. Not long after, David and I divorced. I could never forgive his betrayal.
Six months on, I married James. Weve been happy together every day since. David drifted from Caroline soon after; she, too, could never forgive being lied tonever forgave that hed hidden a wife at home.
