My daughter was afraid to stay with her grandmother while I was at work: I decided to install a hidden camera and saw something terrible.
When my daughter was still very young, I didnt plan to return to work so soon. But circumstances forced me, and I had almost no choice. There was no time to find a nannyeverything happened suddenly. Then my mother-in-law offered:
*”Leave her with me. Im home anyway, itll be a joy.”*
At first, I even sighed in relief. Who better to care for her than her grandmother? The first week was peaceful. I left feeling at ease and came home to see them togetherthey seemed to be playing, and my daughter looked happy.
But soon, something changed. My little girl became withdrawn. She woke up at night screaming, clinging to me as if afraid Id vanish. During the day, she was quiet and sullen, and she wouldnt leave my side when I came home from work.
One morning, as I got ready for work, my daughter grabbed my hand and whispered:
*”Mom dont leave me with Grandma. I dont want to”*
I was puzzled. I thought it was just a childish whimmaybe Grandma had scolded her, and theyd had a fight. But her words stuck in my mind.
The next day, I set up a camerajust to make sure everything was fine.
That evening, when I turned on the recording and saw what happened in my absence, I froze in horror. I never thought her own grandmother could treat a child like that
On the screen, I saw my daughter sitting on the rug with toys. My mother-in-law was nearby. But the moment my little girl cried, Grandma yanked her up, dragged her to the closet, and shoved her inside.
I could hear my daughter sobbing and knocking from the dark while my mother-in-law sat calmly in her chair, acting as if nothing was happening.
*”Cry in there,”* she said coldly.
I wanted to stop watching but kept going. Later, when my daughter came out and tried to hug her, Grandma pushed her away and squeezed her tiny arm so hard she yelped in pain.
Then she leaned down and hissed:
*”Quiet. Or youre going back in the closet. No food tonight.”*
My hands shook. Sitting there, I realized it wasnt a tantrum or my childs imaginationit was the hell she lived in while I worked to support us.
I took my daughter away immediately. The camera footage went straight to the police. The trial dragged on, but the evidence was undeniable.
Since then, Ive learned: blood ties dont always mean a shared soul. And sometimes, the worst things happen where you least expect them.
