My Mother-in-Law Showed Up to Our Wedding in a White Dress and Stood Beside Us at the Altar – Here’s How I Saved My Big Day

**Diary Entry 15th June**
I always knew my mother-in-law was a difficult woman. But even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined shed turn up to our wedding in white.
That dress was practically bridallong, lace-trimmed, hugging her figure. She strode into the registry office like it was her runway moment. While guests whispered, she just smiled and said, *Well, why not? Its a celebration for all of us.*
The first red flag came when she insisted on riding in the car with us. *Am I a stranger now?* she huffed, sliding in beside my groom. I had to squeeze into the back seat. Charming start, wasnt it?
At the registry, she positioned herself right beside us, as if she were the third in our partnership. In every photoher hand on my husbands shoulder, her face closer to the camera than mine. At one point, she even adjusted my veil and whispered, *Its all lopsided Let me fix it.*
During the reception, she acted like the hostesscritiquing the music, telling the waiters the *salads under-seasoned,* and worst of all, whispering incessantly to my husband. As if reminding him whose son he really was.
Then came her crowning moment. She stood, raised her glass, and said, *I wish you happiness. Though, honestly, I thought my son wouldve chosen differently But since he has, wellbest of luck.*
The room fell silent. I kept smiling, but inside, I was seething.
Enough. Time to end this circus.
I approached her with a wineglasspretending to *make peace,* clink glasses, take a photo. She leaned in, and *oops*my hand *slipped.*
Red wine splashed across her pristine dress.
*Oh!* she gasped, dabbing at the stain. *How clumsy of you!*
*Theres a mirror and tissues in the loo,* I said sweetly. *Go check if itll come out.*
She left. I followed, waited until she stepped into a stall, then quietly shut the door and slid the bolt across.
Returning to the guests, I announced, *Mums gone homenot feeling well. Asked not to be disturbed.*
The evening lightened instantly. Laughter returned, the music swelled, and for the first time that day, I felt like the bridenot just a spectator in someone elses family drama.
Not a shred of regret. But something tells me life with her will be *entertaining.*
