Our daughter used to talk to me and her dad almost every day about buying her a baby sister. She explained this desire by saying that they could become real friends, which she does not have yet.
My husband and I were reluctant, but at first we tried, but it didn’t work out, and then we realized that it had been years since we were active, so we hadn’t gotten used to the baby’s cries all over again. Instead of a brother or sister, we decided to buy our daughter a cat or a dog, because an animal can also become a loyal friend and family member.
When we brought home a little border collie, my daughter was angry. It turned out that she didn’t want the animal at all, and we didn’t even ask her… We chose the dog’s name ourselves and worried about him because our daughter didn’t pay attention to him.
Morse, as we named him, was a kind and playful dog, but my daughter would not even look at him. Every day she started to make real scandals with us about how bad we were for not buying her sister. Once it got to the point where she kicked our Morse. And that was the last straw. We put her in the corner and told her that she needed to rethink her behavior. We hadn’t done this before, but our daughter hadn’t behaved like that either.
The girl was standing in the corner and did not want to apologize for what she had done, my husband and I were preparing dinner, and then he gently pushed me and pointed to an amazing painting.
Morse approached his daughter and began to encourage her, she turned away at first, but he did not back down. It seems he managed to melt her heart and she took him in her arms. And from that day on, they became real friends, and where there’s a daughter, there’s a dog.
It got to the point where she sleeps with her friend, shares her secrets and loves him like a real brother, and my husband and I are happy that we were able to give our daughter such happiness!
