I never thought that my parents, my brother, and I would one day have to divide our property and it would be like a quarrel, with everyone shouting and proving something. I’m a relatively old man and at twenty I want to be independent, but my brother is still only fourteen. What does he need an apartment for? He hasn’t even finished school yet, he’s still wet behind the ears.
His parents think he’s a kid too, but so do I. That’s because I’m in college and working, but I’m living in my father’s apartment, which he inherited from his parents. He offered me this option when I told him I wanted to live alone and was ready to rent an apartment.
It was a great gift from my parents, and I even started fixing up the apartment little by little, hoping that one day it would go to me. The quarrel and sharing started after I had a fight with my father. I can’t remember the reason, but it hurt him when I told him I was going to take care of myself.
Then a family meeting was organized and my parents told me that since I was so independent, I had to leave the apartment, they would rent it, and in general, it was not just my place, there was nothing to arrange everything for themselves, because my brother also relies on that apartment.
It is useless to ask what the problem is, when I can get that apartment and my brother can get this one, where my parents live. They are ready to let me and my junior one sell both apartments to get fair money, and then buy our own.
I’m totally against it. Why suffer, pay realtors, pay taxes and for registration, when there are already two apartments, worth, you can live.
But even more astounding that my parents are ready to kick me out of the house for being “independent.
Maybe they will change their minds, and cool down, and we will reconcile, but so far I do not want to make the first steps. Their position is stupid, and my brother is going along with them, because he is so young. They are pushing us against each other, so that someday in the future we will fight and sell everything to our parents.
