The decision to send little Steven to the orphanage was not easy for the parents, but they understood that they could not afford to support two children themselves. So they decided to keep the younger son and give the older one. After all, he has already known parental love, but the younger one has not.
– We will take you back, I promise, but when we have money, so wait there for now.
– Be a good boy, – his mother told him in the end and kissed him on the forehead.
For the first two years, his relatives came often, brought goodies, or took him home for the weekend, and when the boy turned 10, his relatives began to appear several times a year, and then he did not see them at all, and then he realized that in this world he could only rely on himself. He was smart, so he began to invest all his strength in himself.
Sports, reading useful books, new acquaintances and focused study. He did not miss any chance that fate threw him: and at the age of 18 he entered one of the most prestigious universities. All teachers praised young Steven for being so diligent and kind, so it is not surprising that at the end of the 4th year he was invited for an internship in an elite firm.
From the first day, the manager was convinced that he would keep this guy in his team and in a few years Steven took his place.
This is where the main events begin to unfold.
He did not mention his parents. He tried to forget about them, as they once forgot about him, and devoted all his free time to himself. But his parents decided that it was time to appear in his life.
They found him thanks to teachers from the orphanage who kept in touch with the boy. They asked him for forgiveness and help, because, as it turned out, his younger brother got involved with a bad company, because of him the whole family was in debt, and he ran away. And they are almost being kicked out of the house, because they have nothing to repay the debts. So they came to their eldest son to ask for help, and then they will become a family again, as in the good times when he was not yet 8 years old.
But they have already changed places. Instead of a crying child who wanted to go home, there were parents who cried and wanted money, and instead of parents who did not care about his feelings, there was ruthless Steven.
No, he did not drive them away, he calmly gave them money to pay off their debts and asked them not to return to his life. All his dreams of a little boy with a younger brother and a happy family died there, in the orphanage, when he celebrated his birthday alone for the first time.
