A white shirt for graduation, worn jeans, and instead of a folder with notes, a cellophane bag with only one notebook hanging out, which serves as a cover for all four pairs.
Oliver was not a stupid guy at all, he even got excellent grades in his first two years, but everything changed after meeting Eva.
At first Oliver began to skip classes, walking with the charming freshman. He was even embarrassed on test days when his girlfriend was forced to wait for Oliver in the park on a wooden bench. He was in a hurry to get any satisfactory grade to see his beloved as soon as possible.
This went on for almost two years, classmates unanimously told Oliver that because of this fidgeting, the guy might fail and be expelled shortly before the state exams.
But Oliver in response repeated a phrase he had learned long ago:
– You’re jealous of me, I’m dating the most beautiful girl in the institute.
– Well, then do as you like, – friends answered the guy with a surprised shrug.
Oliver, of course, himself understood that Eva had a negative influence on him, but he continued to love the girl, despite the fact that recently she had noticeably gained weight and no longer looked like that young flirty Thumbelina, which he first noticed, cheerfully going down the staircase of the university.
Like a bolt from the blue for the guy was the news about Eva’s expulsion because of her failure. The girl left the city without even saying goodbye to Oliver.
Perhaps her love was not so strong, or maybe she was just ashamed to look into Oliver’s eyes. Recently, the boyfriend no longer hid his indignation and did not hesitate to reprimand Eva for absences.
The girl even began to attend classes again, but she could not catch up with the missed material.
Oliver repeatedly tried to contact Eva, but her phone was unavailable.
Only after waiting for the summer holidays Oliver went to the village where the girl was from.
He had heard more than once from Eva that she lived on the outskirts and what a wonderful view of the river opens from her windows. It was the only clue, the guy did not know the exact address, but he was sure that he would meet his beloved girl.
The old bus drove off the noisy motorway and then for about twenty kilometers made its way along the road until the village, consisting of two hundred houses, appeared on the horizon.
– Yes, not the busiest place, – Oliver said to the driver, and meanwhile trying to see the silhouette of his beloved among the villagers.
– I agree. For all the time, only one orange car drove to meet us, but there was a time when the traffic on this road was in full swing.
Seeing the river Oliver said goodbye to his interlocutor and got off the bus.
The guy wandered along the bank towards the house that stood on the edge of the ravine. Something told Oliver that this was the house Eva was talking about.
As soon as he approached the sloping fence, his heart beat with excitement. Oliver saw a girl hanging laundry on a clothesline.
-“Eva!” he shouted, expecting her to throw herself on his neck like in an Indian film.
She turned around, but there were no enthusiastic emotions. She silently looked at Oliver, waiting for his approach.
It is hard to convey what was going on in the boy’s heart at that moment.
What only Oliver did not have time to imagine in a minute that he was walking from the fence to the girl.
Doubts began to dissipate the moment he caught up with the girl, and their eyes met.
The girl looked exactly like Oliver’s beloved. She was wearing the dress that Oliver had given Eva on her birthday, but it wasn’t her.
-“I am not Eva, I am her younger sister,” Julia said, looking at Oliver.
-“Sis, let’s go inside, I brought you some presents.
-Come in, father.
-What kind of father am I to you, there is no more than five years difference between us.
-That’s not what I mean. You’re going to have a daughter any day now. They took Eva’s mother and father to the regional maternity hospital.
-What did they take?
-On a helicopter, – the girl said and laughed.
-“They just left, that’s why our old car could not start, I could feel the car of my soul mate approaching.
The guy sat down on the porch, stunned by the news. Oliver decided for himself that he would never again allow Eva to move away from him without permission.
Oliver pulled out his phone, wanting to call a taxi as soon as possible, but there was no mobile communication in the village.
-What are you standing there for, run to the bus crossing, the next one is not until tomorrow! – Julia shouted and the boy rushed to the road as if on command.
A week later Oliver, surrounded by his parents and many relatives, many of whom he saw for the first time, stood on the threshold of the maternity hospital.
The guy was holding his daughter in his arms, and Eva was clinging to his shoulder and their happiness knew no bounds.
