When I got tired of being constantly humiliated by my mother-in-law, I just divorced my wife.

I’m 40 years old. I’ve been married twice. I divorced my first wife a long time ago. We were just too young when we got married. And then it turned out that we were completely different people.

My first wife gave birth to my daughter. Our daughter is 12 years old. Of course, I have a relationship with my first wife, and I pay child support for my daughter. I also help out extra with money, even though my salary isn’t very big. I repair cars, but I definitely help my ex-wife and my daughter.

And then four years ago I met Kate. We started dating and got married. We started living in Kate’s apartment, and we rented out my studio apartment and got extra income. My first wife Helena was a simple and kind woman. Kate, on the other hand, was very different. She was used to living well and was very demanding. Kate has a sibling who lives very well. She and her husband live in a large three-room apartment. They have two cars and often go on vacation abroad.

Of course, my mother-in-law praised her eldest daughter’s husband many times in front of me and reproached me for not earning enough. But I took it easy. It went on like that for more than three years. Then one day we had a family feast. During the meal, my mother-in-law said:

– You’re 40 years old now! Maybe you should change jobs or find yourself some other part-time job. Look at my grandson and his father. Alex is a businessman. And my grandson, even though he is only 15 years old, already earns quite a bit of money himself. He earns even more than you do!

When I heard that, I left the table and went for a walk in the yard. I thought I would calm down. But I couldn’t calm down. I was very hurt that my mother-in-law had insulted me in front of so many strangers. And my wife didn’t even stand up for me! She did not say a word in my defense. Instead, she laughed with the others.

“But it’s not like everyone can be programmers and businessmen!” – I thought.

I left. I went home and got my stuff. And in the evening I called my wife and told her I was going to file for divorce. I immediately felt so relieved! I’m only 40 years old. I still have a lot of years of life ahead of me. I’m going to live my life to the fullest, and I’m not going to let anyone humiliate me anymore!
