A one-eyed kitten was found in a junkyard, luckily he found a loving family. Stray animals face a life full of challenges in order to survive. However, there is an even more vulnerable population whose life expectancy is all but diminished by the irresponsibility of their caretakers: stray animals. When a pet is forced to face a situation of abandonment when it is only days old, it is very difficult for it to adapt because it does not have the care of its mother. That’s why the team at the animal welfare charity Blue Cross was overjoyed to rescue a little kitten found in a junkyard.

The little kitten, whom the rescuers decided to name Osho, was found covered in dirt, infested with fleas and weighing well below normal. The little guy was begging for help in the rubble and, had he arrived later, he might not have survived. The most worrying thing about Osho was an abscess in his right eye that seemed to be causing him a lot of discomfort. He was immediately transferred to the center for treatment and Osho, only days old, had to undergo surgery to have his eye removed.

After several weeks of recovery, the little kitten was ready to be adopted. He now looked much more confident and at a normal weight, his right eye healed quickly and his story of abandonment was in the past. “He is a brave little soul and is thriving despite his ordeal. He is now at an ideal weight for his age, has an incredible appetite and spends his days playing with his toys,” commented Carys who has cared for the little boy 24 hours a day in her home since he arrived in Blue Cross care.

Osho’s story has a happy ending because after his stormy start, he has finally found a family that will give him all the love he deserves. Let’s remember to encourage respect and responsibility with our pets. Stray animals depend a lot on any help they can get, so any gesture of kindness could even save their lives.
