“She can’t get over his death”: faithful puppy sleeps at the burial site of her canine best friend

“She doesn’t get over his death,” is what the family members of the faithful little dog who stars in this story say. It turns out that her brother and best canine friend died and she has been plunged into great sadness and depression. Although it is a sad story, we want to share it to raise awareness about the feelings of animals. They, just like humans, experience a myriad of feelings when it comes to dealing with a loss. Read on for more details.

Different investigations have shown that grief is one of the most complex processes to process, both for humans and for different species. That is the case of Kaya, a Great Dane dog, who lost her brother and best friend. Her guardians indicate that she “can’t get over his death”, so she remains lying on the grave of her adventure companion. With the same sadness and pain, they were the ones who shared the postcards where you can see the sadness of the canine.

What happened to Kaya’s brother? Marcelo Rodríguez is the guardian of Kaya and her brother, together they live in Paraguay. He was the one who shared the images of the dog submerged in sadness at the beginning of January 2022. Beyond the postcards, what happened to the little dog that crossed the rainbow? Gaspar was reported to have kidney failure and was undergoing a very expensive treatment. In fact, with his family they were selling notebooks to pay for his process.

“Our friend is in renal failure. We know these are difficult times, but Gaspar keeps fighting as he did a thousand times and we want to keep giving him that opportunity. RT is appreciated, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” reads a Twitter post prior to the passing. Nevertheless, and despite all the effort made, the great Dane lost the battle. With deep sadness, the family communicated the loss with which many netizens felt identified.

As we mentioned before, Kaya and Gaspar were not only best friends and lived incredible adventures. They were siblings and had shared their entire lives together. The guardian of the dogs shared two postcards that show how the siblings lived before and after. In the first postcard we see how the little dog hugs her companion, and in the second one, we see her lying on the dog’s grave.

“Yesterday we buried our dog in the backyard of mom’s house. Gaspar was a unique companion who taught us all a lot. This is Kaya, his friend, who now does not leave his grave,” they explained on social networks. We wish that Gaspar has transcended with peace of mind after fighting hard for his life and that Kaya can process her grief and resume her life.
