But the foster mother was able to cure the boy with a harelip, and meeting his biological parents shocked everyone. The mother did not like the baby at first sight. David is a grown man. He looks nice, has his own place to live, and a job. But if it were not for his adoptive mother, who put her soul into him, it is unclear how his fate would have turned out. Monica (name changed, ed.) gave birth for the second time. She and her husband already had a beautiful daughter. And now the woman was anxiously carrying her son. Monica was a teacher and a well-respected woman in her community, and she prided herself on her ability to speak easily to children.
And now the long-awaited day of delivery. A baby boy was born. But just how disappointed she was when her expectations and reality proved incompatible. Unfortunately, the baby had a birth defect on her face – a cleft lip. This greatly spoiled the newborn’s appearance. And then the mother decided that she simply did not need such a child. The woman cynically wrote a rejection of the newborn and went home with a clear conscience. She returned, so to speak, to her measured and tranquil life.
In the meantime, an orphanage awaited David. He lived there for three (!) years. And then he was taken away by his adoptive mother, who was not by blood, but who had become one in her heart.
– My husband and I really wanted to adopt. But no suitable children were available. We went around to orphanages, we kept looking and looking. And then we found ourselves in the second orphanage,” the woman recalls. – The headmistress told us that there are two boys, but we hardly want to take them.
The woman wondered, “Why such a conclusion all of a sudden?” The woman was sure of her intention.
– Still, show them,” she insisted.
And so, at the quiet hour, the supervisor and the couple went into the large bedroom.
– We approached the beds where the boys were sleeping, covered with a sheet almost to the top of their heads. The manager slowly pulls the sheet down from one baby’s face, then from the face of the other. Here we were aghast,” she says. – Such a scary thing we saw that it was scary. The boys have beautiful eyes, and both have the same defect – a harelip. I asked the manager whether it could be cured or not. And she advised me to go to the hospital and consult with the doctors there.
So they did. The specialist immediately warned me that everything can be fixed, but it is difficult and time-consuming.
– I decided to try,” the mother continues. – And I went to get the boys. I couldn’t take one, and I couldn’t take the other. The headmistress, of course, was very surprised that we came back. She was not expecting us. We took the documents and took them with us. The birth mother gave up on the boy when he was still a child.
Hard times came for the family. For 17 years they had constant doctors, examinations, surgeries.
– The first operations were done every six months. All the time I was dragging babies through maxillofacial departments. I collected money through funds. But in the end we had a difficult surgery. They took cartilage from a boy’s hip, inserted it into his palate and formed his nose out of it. It was a very bloody and very scary operation,” says a woman.
But it was worth it! Both boys in 20 years became an enviable groomsmen. Handsome boys!
True, David had one dream – to see his biological mother. Apparently, he hoped that the woman would realize how he had changed and accept him, or at least repent for having once betrayed him. The woman knew the address of the family and, without thinking twice, took David there. But even this time the grieving mother did not recognize him as her son, even though he looked like her like two peas in a pod.
– She shouted from behind the door that she had only one daughter, that David could not be her son. In general, she did not even let him on the threshold, – says the woman. – Barely holding back tears, David made his way to the car. The ride home passed in silence. And then he somehow came to terms with it. Probably crossed them out for himself, like they had crossed him out. David and I are fine now. He is the dearest and most beloved child in the world.
